“Ladies and gentlemen, dolphins.”

As a part of the Josie endless summer, I commute to downtown San Diego on “The Coaster” (I mean, come on, even the name sounds like I am off to a day at the beach, not a day at the office). So, yesterday, I was blissfully reading my Star magazine when the conductor announced, “Ladies and gentlemen, dolphins”.  I tore myself away from the new Kardashian news and glanced out the window to see a pod of about 20 dolphins frolicking around in the surf. Um, fabulous!!!

Seeing the dolphins was amazing but I love imagining the self-talk the conductor did before he jumping on the loudspeaker, “OMG, look at those dolphins. I wish I could tell someone. Wait! I have a few thousand commuters in this train but I better make it quick. What will I say? What will I say? Keep it simple.”

“Ladies and gentlemen, dolphins.”

Yahoo & BooHoo…the Summer Vaca is nearly over.

I stretched it out as long as possible but the Josie & Thor Summer Vacation is winding to a close. I am officially employed, road-trip to SoCal this weekend and PODS are on delivery trucks for their journey from SLC to Cardiff-by-the-Sea.

It was a struggle to get motivated for the job search but I finally channeled Stuart Smalley from Saturday Night Live “I’m good enough, I’m smart enough, and dog-gone it, people should hire me.” And an agency in San Diego did hire me!

Although technically the summer is over I am counting the next few weeks as post-summer, pre-employment vacation so I can be a bum until we move in on the 15th. Is that so wrong?

Thor is preparing for his first triathalon.

It has been a grueling training schedule but I think he is ready!

Home Sweet California Home!

Okay Thor, 72 hours left of my summer and I have officially secured our new home. Hello 600 sq. foot ocean-view deck only 4 blocks from the big blue Pacific Ocean (and the interior space is 1200 sq. ft. – a dreamy ratio of outside/inside space!). We will be residents of Cardiff-by-the-Sea as of October 15th! I am already dreaming of frozen umbrella drinks and BBQs on this deck.

But, the summer countdown clock is still ticking, now I need to find a job!

I thought my steak came from the meat fairy…

This is WAY too much information but A+ for craft skills Mr. Butcher.

And, can I wear white after Labor Day?

Thor: “Josie, I think you need a reality check. Summer is over. Labor Day was Monday. Remember? We have PODS that need a home.”

Josie: “Technically Thor, summer isn’t over until the Autumnal Equinox – Thursday, September 23rd 03:09 Greenwich Mean Time which is Wednesday, September 22nd at 20:09 in the Pacific Time Zone.  I have two weeks.”

Thor: “Nice research Josie. Enjoy your last few weeks.”

Happy 41 Years of Happily Ever After!

Once upon a time, a guy from Iowa and a gal from Minnesota met on a blind date. They fell in love, got married and 41 years later celebrated with their child Josie and her fabulous husband Thor! Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad!
